Blog Journal #1

I'm Trey Halama and I'm 22 years old as of January 2023. Despite being born in Texas, I actually spent a good chunk of my life in the Florida Keys, only moving up to Tallahassee in 2020 to attend TCC. Now in FSU, I am a Creative Writing major and hoping to find a career in that field in some way. For now, I am quite a fan of traveling, having done a lot myself, even going to Alaska twice.

For the first 6 or 7 years of my education, the technology of today wasn't exactly a thing. It wasn't until 2011, when I started my middle school years, that it became commonplace for me. Back in those days, I used Khan Academy almost on a daily basis for math classes, and started to make PowerPoint presentations for other classes among many other things. It was practically a complete 180 from what I was used to in the years prior.

It might have been because I never went to particularly big schools, but the change between High School and College was even more drastic than Elementary to Middle school. Just before Covid messed everything up, Canvas first became a thing for me at TCC, and it was quite the learning curve, especially when all my classes shifted to online only. Nowadays at FSU, I've become used to this system and use it almost every day, even days when I don't have classes at all. For certain classes, McGraw hill connect was also a requirement to access assignments, and also helps me out on occassion.

  1. I think it's so cool that you have been to Alaska twice! I have never been there and have never been to the Keys either. I relate to having to pick up on using Canvas out of the blue. Whenever COVID hit I feel like all of had to make a big switch to using a lot of technological resources we weren't very familiar with before.

  2. Hi Trey, I enjoyed getting to read your blog. I also love traveling but have not yet been able to make it to Alaska. Having to learn new technology so quickly is definitely a struggle at first, but it can be very convenient when you get the hang of it.
